• On 4th October 1917, about 40 ANZAC soldiers stormed a German garrison in an attempt to win control of an important German stronghold
• The story is retold as a ‘living history’ day, as your group is transformed into the platoon of the 40th Battalion to march the road to Tyne Cot, just as they did in 1917

• Change into uniforms, with backpacks & rifles
• Group involvement is important, as each member assumes the identity of one of the soldiers. At Tyne Cot, discover the destiny of your soldier
• The purpose of this activity is to give students a better insight into some historical aspects of the Great War. It does not endorse the use of violence in any way
• Lunch will be a special WWI Tommy Tucker meal (soup, pie with bully-beef and Tommy cake)
