Lille Christmas Market

This is one of the most popular Christmas markets in France, with a truly festive feel, street entertainment and a giant Ferris wheel. The Euralille indoor shopping centre is close by, and has a good selection of shops.

Ypres Christmas Market

A small traditional Christmas market, with an ice rink and chocolate shops, and a very cosy atmosphere. If you have time, visit the WWI museum or the Sanctuary Wood Trenches.

Sample Itinerary

Day 1:
Travel to Dover for the ferry crossing to Calais. Arrive Ypres in time for dinner.

Day 2:
AM: Visit the Euralille shopping centre and hypermarket in Lille.
PM: Enjoy the Lille Christmas market, full of brightly lit stalls and festive cheer.

Day 3:
AM: Spend the morning at the Ypres Christmas market and ice rink or visit the splendid interactive WWI ‘In Flanders Fields’ Museum.
PM: Drive to Calais for the ferry crossing to Dover. Return to school.
